Big news for aspiring medics and dentists: UCAT booking opens tomorrow at 6am!

This is a key moment in your application journey, and getting your test date secured early can make a big difference in your preparation and peace of mind.

Here’s everything you need to know to get booked in smoothly and strategically.

When does UCAT booking open?

Booking opens tomorrow, 17th June 2025 at 6am UK time, via the official UCAT website. You’ll need to have registered for a UCAT account before you can book, so make sure that’s already done. If not, head over to the UCAT registration page and get registered ASAP.

Why should I book early?

  • More choice: Booking early gives you a wider selection of test centres, dates, and times.

  • Strategic prep: Choosing a test date that suits your personal schedule and study plan helps you prepare better.

  • Reduced stress: Early booking gives you more time to focus on revision without worrying about admin.

How do I book my UCAT test?

  1. Log in to your UCAT account.

  2. Select your preferred test centre and date.

  3. Pay the test fee (or apply for a bursary if eligible).

  4. Confirm your booking and make a note of the date!

Don’t forget about UCATSEN and bursaries!

  • If you qualify for UCATSEN (the extended time version of the test), make sure you apply for access arrangements before you book your test. You’ll need to provide supporting evidence and wait for approval. See this link for more information: https://www.ucat.ac.uk/register/access-arrangements/

  • Bursary applications are also open! If you meet the eligibility criteria, you could take the UCAT for a reduced cost. See this link for more information: https://www.ucat.ac.uk/register/bursary-scheme/

Top tips for booking:

  • Pick a realistic date: Be honest about how much time you need to prepare. Don’t rush it! We recommend booking your test at least 6 weeks after you have started your preparations.

  • Have 3 dates and testing venues ready: Dates and times get snatched up fast, so it's important to have a few dates in mind in case your preferred date and venue are gone by the time you book. This will reduce time panicking whilst trying to find a suitable new date and venue.

  • Don't book the test for after you've started school: It's really important that you book your test for before you start Year 13. The new school year is hectic, and you don't want to be stressing over the UCAT at the beginning of Year 13.

  • Double check everything: Make sure your details match your ID and UCAS application.
