Maths Tutor Profile: Meet Wilf
Maths & Further Maths Tutor
Computer Science PhD Student | Kings College, Cambridge
Wilf is a second-year PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Cambridge, with a strong background in mathematics. He graduated second in his cohort from the University of Oxford with a degree in Mathematics, and his current research sits at the intersection of pure maths, logic, and programming. At Cambridge, Wilf supervises undergraduate students across both computer science and mathematics, supporting learners from first-year through to Master’s level.
Outside of academia, Wilf has a passion for theatre and singing.
Tutoring Experience
Wilf has taught both research-level and core undergraduate mathematics, and regularly supervises Cambridge students in computer science and programming. His own academic journey—from A* grades in Maths and Further Maths at A-level to consistent Firsts at Oxford—means he is well-placed to support students at sixth-form and university level alike.
He offers expert tuition in:
-
A Level Maths and Further Maths
-
Undergraduate Mathematics (including Linear Algebra, Probability, Real Analysis)
-
Introductory and advanced programming
-
Cambridge supervision preparation and academic skills
Wilf’s teaching style is clear, thoughtful, and rigorous—helping students build confidence and deep understanding in challenging material.
Academic Distinction & Research
Wilf’s academic excellence has been recognised throughout his studies. He was awarded the Gibbs Prize twice for ranking second in exams at Oxford in both his third and fourth year, as well as receiving the Casberd Scholarship at St John’s College, Oxford. At Cambridge, he holds a prestigious Hopper Studentship.
“Helping students connect rigorous mathematical thinking with real-world problem solving is at the heart of my approach.”
