Personal Statement Support for Medicine Applicants
- 2026 Entry -

Stand out in the new structured UCAS format with expert-led tutoring that turns your experiences into a compelling case for medicine.

The personal statement has changed

In 2025, UCAS phased out the traditional freeform personal statement and replaced it with a new, structured format. Applicants will now respond to a series of specific questions about their motivation, experience, and preparedness for their chosen course.

This change is intended to make the process more equitable, but for medical applicants, it raises the bar for how clearly and concisely you must communicate your strengths.

Medicine remains one of the most competitive subjects — so your responses need to stand out while still addressing the core values, skills, and insights medical schools are looking for.

What medical schools are looking for

Whether you're applying to Cambridge, King’s, Keele or anywhere in between, your personal statement needs to highlight:

  • Why you want to study medicine – with clarity and sincerity

  • What you’ve done to explore this decision – including work experience, volunteering, or reading

  • The skills you’ve developed – teamwork, communication, empathy, resilience

  • How you're academically prepared – and committed to the challenges of a demanding degree

Now that your answers will be broken into sections, each part needs to work hard to make a clear, strategic impact.

How we help

At T&M Tutoring, we offer 1:1 support and expert-led workshops to help students craft standout responses under the new system. Our tutors are current medical students at top universities, who understand what admissions teams are really looking for.

We help you:

  • Brainstorm and structure your answers around your genuine story

  • Match your experiences to the required attributes medical schools assess

  • Refine your tone – confident, but not boastful

  • Avoid cliché and generic phrasing

  • Edit and polish until every sentence earns its place
